IIRC older multiplexed PSA fuel gauge info works differently from other vehicle manufacturers. Ignition switched on - BSI looks at the tank sender unit & uses that info to display the fuel level on the gauge. Once engine is started the BSI now ignores the tank sender unit reading & calculates the Turn the hazard flasher one to locate it. If you want try swapping the turn signal flasher with the hazard flasher to see if this fixes it. They are the same style flasher.
